Colors added into a specific room can add warmth and even emotions. Making one color the focal point of the room can be spread around with vases, pillows, and even other little knickknacks around the space. This will draw the eye to different locations in one room.

Carrying your focus color into the next room will open your space and unify the rooms. The color in the next room will draw your eye to that room as a natural flow.

The focus color might be a tapestry or large painting. An area rug is the perfect choice if you would like to draw attention away from a large object. This rug will not only quickly become your focal point; it will also add flair and warmth to your room decor.

Choosing an area rug for your room is the first step. Now you need to decide on the perfect color. As you can see, your color choice will be very important. The rug you choose may have an overall pattern, a pattern in the center with a border, a plain center with a border pattern, or just plain like a bamboo rug.

If you would like the area rug to be the focal point in the room try choosing a bold solid color. You then can focus on designing around the rugs color with the rest of the decor choices. Even if you choose to have a solid colored rug in the room this doesn’t mean the design of the rest of the room can’t have pattern.

If the room is decorated but you feel like an area rug will fig perfectly into this space try purchasing one which is close to the color palette which already exists. It can either have the same colors as the decor in the room or even just one of the colors which is the most prominent one in the room.

Before painting the rooms try figuring out what type of feel you want it to have. For example; a romantic room would be painted in the red to burgundy family since it’s rich and warm. A family room could be painted a cream or lighter color to give warmth but also will make it seem brighter and larger.

Using a light color will reflect any light that comes into the room making the room feel bigger while using darker colors give you a warm feeling and makes the room feel smaller and cozier.

Here are a few colors and the basic feeling they can evoke when used as a focus color in your decor. Red denotes warmth and passion. Yellow is happy and bright. Orange is a mixture of red and yellow and is both playful and cooperative. Green is a cool color and also very earthy. Light blue is uplifting and dark blue is serene. This is a cool color. Light violet is spiritual while darker purple makes you feel regal.

Color will brighten or even make a room feel cozier. Then by adding an area rug, it will tie everything together.
